Hi, my company uses Microsoft Exchange Sever, my profile has been setup in my office computer. I am wondering if it is possible to setup my profile in a computer which is not in the company's network? Like I can setup my hotmail email profile in any computers? Thanks a lot!

Can I set up my email profile (not POP3) in any computer?

Yes, but you will need to be able to acces the email server for Authentication. I don't have my laptop on the network domain, yet I can authenticate and read my mail. When I configured my Outlook client, I just pointed it to the server on the Lan. Then I recieved a Login Window which verified that I had the "rights" to do this connection.
Need to make sure that you are on the same IP networking scheme for this to work.

Thank you for your reply! I don't know the details. I only know it's Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
What do you mean by "the same IP networking scheme"? I wanted to use Microsoft Outlook to access my emails from a computer which stands outside the company's Lan. How do I do that if I got my company's authentication? Thanks again!

well, you'll need some method of "Getting" into your LAN. Either by directly hooking up your computer to the network using a network cable. If your laptop is configured to get an IP Address from a server, then I'm sure you'll be okay should your network have a DNS service running to dish you out an address. And, depending on how your Admin dude has configured your network access. Hopefully, he's configured the network where what YOU are trying to do isn't done without his knowledge.
If you are trying to access the LAN from, say, your home, then you have some options:
1. Create a VPN connection
2. Create a Terminal Server connection.
3. Create a Outlook Web Acccess (OWA) connection.
I'm sure that there are tons of hackers that can exploit other avenues to gain entry, however, these are the leagal ones that I know of to date.
If you are trying to access the LAN from, say, your home, then you have some options:
1. Create a VPN connection
2. Create a Terminal Server connection.
3. Create a Outlook Web Acccess (OWA) connection.
I'm sure that there are tons of hackers that can exploit other avenues to gain entry, however, these are the leagal ones that I know of to date.

Thank you DColcl. Seems I am talking to an expert! Definitely I want to do it in a legal way. I can access emails through OWA, just I want more. Could you please kindly explain a little more about VPN and Terminal Server Connection? are there any cost for that? Thanks!
LOL. I'm no expert. I'm hoping Malcolm, Markdmac, Zelandakh, or NortonES2 will jump in and add to this thread. They ARE the experts! I'm just here till they catch me.
Terminal server, if you are using Windows 2000, is free. You simply need to setup the licence server, and Teminal Server on seperate servers. If you are using Small Business Server then this is already done for you. IF you are using Windows 2003 Server then you will need to get Terminal Server licenses. You admin guy will know where to get those. I use Remote Desktop from my computers with the IP Address of the Terminal Server Network Card. And, after authinticated, I surf rigth on in. Oh, btw, the server will need to have a second Network card installed and configured for the Terminal server to work. However, it's really easy for any admin to install and configure. Hell, I even did it..... which bares truth to the saying " Even a monkey can do it!"....
I'm not to hip on VPN connections but I'm sure that there is a ton of information on this site, as well as the net.
both of these methods will require some Firewall configuration as well.
