My primary VOLUME is quite full, which is limiting my SALVAGEability (limited space for DELETED.SAV :-{). Is there a way to have a volume keep its salvage directory on a different volume? (yes, I know this implies more than one salvage directory in a volume; i.e. SAVLAGE.DIR, SLVG2.DIR).
I suspect the answer is NO, but I need to ask.

The answer is no

The files that get deleted stay int he directory they were delted from, the DELETED.SAV directory is justthe store for files when the entire directory they lived in is deleted. There is no setting that allows you to change this.

FYI You are giving up functionality for the ease of use SALVAGE gives to to restore deleted files. As you know, when you delete a file, it does not actually get deleted, so you can salvage it if needed. Since NetWare still has to track these deleted files, it takes up resources. There is a noticable performance difference when you purge your volumes on a regular basis. You should incorporate a backup plan on off line media (or online media) so you can restore files when needed. Not as easy as salvage, but at least your system will perform at it's peek all the time.
