I am looking for a way to prevent users from hitting the shift key and opening my entire database to the world, if anyone knows how this can be done in 97 or 2000 then I would love to hear it.

Huge thanks in advance

The only way to sucure your database 100% is to create an mde file.

Cheers for your response, the problem with .MDE is that the user can still delete queries etc. Plus I don't want the back-end to be looked at. Therefore I need to stop the shift key from working- any ideas?

There is a solution in the "Access howto" FAQ from Rhicks
search for: "How can I disable the shift key at startup?"

but I think you can override this one by opening the database from within another database with the workspace.opendatabase method
