Essentially I'd like to be able to group a set of records on a continuous form in the same way that a Report Sorts and Groups them.

Unfortunately I've not discovered any feature to do this in Access 97.

eg. I have a load of records sorted by date, but I'd like to put a dividing line between each different date.

All suggestions and tips most appreciated,

There is probably not going to be any way to do this without twisting yourself in to a pretzel - a continuous form is really just a "one row" form that repeats the row as often as it can within the detail section, and you only get one detail section within a form.

The pretzel mode involves creating a different continuous form for each year, and embedding them as subforms within a larger main form. Its quite ugly, and may cause much knashing of teeth and rending of cloth...
