I have 4 user in one office. can I modify the ring on a 500 analog phone so the user can know which line is ringing.(I know what your thinking and I asked already). But the reply was they have to work at a bench away from the desk so they are not always close to their phone so from a distance they can't tell. I thought ring pickup but I am just a guy trying to help four females so what do I know. any suggestions would be great

Set a pillow under one, it will ring quieter, set a can under one it will ring louder, put one in a bag, and leave one as is,,,,,

Before I got into the phone biz, we had the same problem in the office I was in. We would actually modify the bells (we were a bunch of engineers). We would take one bell out of one phone, take the little "bean" off the end of the ringer on another, stuff cotton into another, etc.

Now that I'm in the phone biz, I have all 2008, 2616, and 3904 sets. I don't even know if DRG can be set in the CLS of a 500 set!

Hey James,

In LD10 you could try EXR1 through EXR4 in the CLS of the 500 sets. The ring tone would have to be defined in LD56 and you must Executive Distinctive Ringing EDRG package 185. I am not sure if this will do what you need but I only know of the feature.

Or.. you could get visual ring detectors for each phone. These are used offten in high noise areas.

If you have the means to do it, you can always try to find some 9316's. I had the same issue at one of my locations and the 9316 did the trick. It does require power so that is another factor. The tones are changed from the phone itself.

and ftc works great on digital sets.. analog sets are 90v and you can buy sets with adjustable tones.. station level adjustment, not switch.. you can set drng patterns, but the ringer will have the same tone, just a shorter or dual ring.. the old one short and one long is still an option

Hey, John, is DRNG a setting for a 500 set? I'm only familiar with the digital DRG1 through DRG4.

yes and it changes the sound, but not the tone..

Excellent response from all. As I can tell we all think of ways to solve user problems with limited equipment and in my case limited training. But I think the call will be no the equipment (500 series ) user have will not allow to make changes. I will give them the option to purchase 2008 to allow DR1 thru 4 that can change the style of the ring. But as in most case they take the cheap way out and do the ring pick-up group as I first suggested. That way they can stay at the bench and use the (can't we all just get along)method. Thanks everyone for the support
