can connect network but not internet

I have three machines networked through a netgear wireless router. We were on asdl internet, just switched to cable. My machine running win xp pro is connected to the router with a cat-5 cable and can find and use the network but can't connect to the internet. The other two machines are fully functional: win xp pro with a wireless connection and win 98 with a cat-5 connection. I've tried running a new network setup, but no success. What am I missing?

by connecting to "network" you mean you can see the wireless network, or you can see the other computers on that wireless network.

what are the ip address's of all 3 computers?

Most DSL connections through a router are PPPOE... and cable does not use PPPOE. If you used the same router that you are using now... check to see if your router is still set up to connect using PPPOE. If it is, turn that off.

I have a cable modem connected to my Netgear RT314 router and do not enter an account name or password in the router or on any of my three computers.

Shmoes: I was able to connect to the other two machines on the network. All three machines have IPs of 192.168.0.3, 4, or 5. I was able to ping the router, but not the modem.

linney: Thanks for the link. I was actually using some of the suggestions in this thread when my poltergeist took its leave.

Thank you all. Something righted itself as I was attempting to solve the problem, and I can now connect. I appreciate all your input!
