I can access everything on the web except my own site from inside the office. this is a new site and the dns records are correct. i have a pix that i thought may be blocking but not sure also thinking it may be related to iis not set proper.

any thoughts

jim

Try accessing the website by using the internal IP address of the web server. Some firewalls won't allow you to access the external address of your internal site from within the internal site itself. I know we can't access any of our web servers from within the company by using the external address or DNS public name.

thanks, that dont seem to work either. i tested the pix and its not blocking traffic. i believe its an iis issue and not sure what avenue to try. my server name is example (rocket.com) and my web is also (rocket.com) when i try to access this page it gives a dns error and page can't be displayed. although if i ping rocket.com it gives me my server address. i think iis but not sure where to forward out past my server.

So you're saying that you followed pgaliardo's suggestion and tried from inside your network? If so, with no name resolution or firewall involved, the problem lies with your IIS server configuration and nothing else. Are you sure that IIS is running? You might want to take this discussion to forum41.

If I understand your issue correctly,

Your internal domain name is rocket.com and your web site is hosted outside of your domain at
In order for this to work you need to create a host entry in your local DNS called assign it the public IP of the web site.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
