Can Access work with E-mail

Can Access 2000 do this?
1. in intervals open and check for email sent by a specified person
2. Take information off of said email and save it to a database table (needed information is in same place every time)
3. send an email to another person listed in another table

I am using this to receive emails taken from a website and saving the order information to the database and sending a varification email to the customer. I want to automate this.
If it can, do you know of any sites that would have a turtorial on it, and if not what program will do that and access Access 2000 for the information. I am using Outlook Express 6.

Any other suggestions will be taken with great appreication.

I am currently doing something similar but probably a bit more complex using SQL Server. The reasons I chose SQL Server are that it is an excellent RDBMS that is now our target business database, it has built in mail processing functionality, it has SQL Server Agent which works like chron in unix to check the mail account at specified intervals.
