Before I got out and purchase a cheap USB2.0 PCI card to put into my Windows 95 Machine, will 95 recognize that type of card in the PCI slot? I really don't want to upgrade the machine to 98 yet, but just wanted to see if I could install a USB2.0 card into it to add more items to the machine (i.e. External Hard Drive and other gadgets). The older PC is just for the kids i put on my network.

That really depends on if the card comes with drivers for Win95.
Most cards have a system requirement list on the back of the box. if Win95 is there or Win9X then it should be usable in Win95.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

win95 doesn't do USB! (the very last version, OSR 2.5, released in 97 has limited USB recognition - but 'recognised' devices are not generally usable).

I'd have thought you can pick up 98SE for next to nothing nowadays - if you want USB you'll need to upgrade.

Other note - some 'modern' PCI cards are not compatible with PCI slots in older machines. I don't know of any method other than trying, to find out - though as you say, USB cards are cheap.

To be honest if you are going to upgrade consider moving to XP, even this might struggle with add on USB on an old machine (mine does).
I had to disable The USB2.0 drivers, too many major crashes due to PCI probs I think.
My machine isnt so old that it diddnt have USB support on the motherboard (USB1 only)
