Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble enabling my users to send email to addresses outside of the domain, when they are not on our LAN.

What relay settings can I adjust to allow people who successfully authenticate to send mail to everyone, not just people in our domain? I haven’t been able to do this without opening my relay for every spammer in the world to use…

Thanks for the help!

Chris

How are they accessing your server? Are they people with domain IDs?

Configure Outlook over HTTP.

I hope you find this post helpful.

They are people with domain IDs accessing the server via smtp through various mail clients (none of which are Outlook). They can email out when they use OWA, but nobody likes OWA as much as their existing email client. Besides, the most important thing here is that a few key people can send mail via SMTP through their mobile phones which they can't do right now...

Give the users Outlook 2003. If they have been included in your Exchange 2003 CAL count then they are licensed for Outlook. You can then configure Outlook over HTTP so they won't need to VPN in or anything. Likewise you should configure ActiveSync on the server to allow SmartPhone or PPCs to connect and send email via the phones.

Read through the setup docs on Microsoft.com for Outlook over HTTP.
