Hello, need some help finding the right product. I work for a homeless mission in Houston and was recently donated a Cisco 65xx Catalyst with 3 48pt 10/100 modules in it. It works great and I wanted to replace my old daisy chained 10/100 switches in my closet. We have 6 remote buildings linked vial mm fiber (ST) to a old BayNetworks 5000 Distributed multiplexor with 7 fiber cards. The remote buildings have a ST Fiber-AUI adapter attached to a 8 port BayNetworks hub. I want to purchase the 6 port GBIC module for the new cabinet and replace the remote building equipment. I only need 4 ports per remote building because there is only one office per building. Can someone tell me what they would do in this scenario? thanks so much.

God Bless
Andrew

Well, it depends on your budget...

I would look at a small linksys switch as you can get them with fiber uplinks.. or possible look for older 3500xl's on ebay..
