Hi All,

I have a domain controller that has 32 Exchange server CALS and 56 Server CALS registered. I have 56 machines in total on the network, and only 32 of those actually have outlook installed.

However - event viewer is saying i am out of windows server licenses !?

I have approximately 300 users, that can use any of these machines.

I created a single licensing group and added everything i could see to this group (which was a mixture of users and machines incidentally).

Looked at the product view for windows server and its at its limit, which is ok/correct (56 per seat purchased and 56 allocated). But now the exchange server entry says i dont have enough licenses ? So this new licensing group is being picked up by the exchange server product view for some reason and saying i have 32 per seat exhcnage licenses (which is correct) but allocated 56 (incorrect)!??

Can someone tell me if i have done this wrong, and the correct way to add 32 exchange CALS for 32 machines and 56 server CALS for 56 machines onto the server for 300 users?

Cheers

Steve

I called MS about this and was told not to rely on the LIC Manager, just ignore the errors. Lic Manager keeps issueing server CALs to PC's and users on my domain. I have a per seat Lic Scheme. The solution from MS is to stop LIC Manager and delete all (Clear) Lic, in it and then let it build it's database again.

This does not sound like a good solution but it is what I paid $430 for.

Sorry to hear it cost you that much ! Sounds like MS have some work to do then - that shouldn't be happening !!

I will try that - has anyone else got any suggestions ?

Thanks !!
