I have set up an info mailbox on an extension. If I call telephone number externally (using prefix), I can listen to message. If I call the 4-digit extension internally, it gives me a fast busy and display shows "not in service".
How can I program extension mailbox so that callers can access it internally?

When you built the Mail box you put an extention number to the box? try building the mail box like a guest box when it tell you to pur the extension in press star.

Actually, I assigned a 4-digit number to a CCR Tree, number 3 and built all prompts, gave it a Greeting number of 3 too and assigned the line to it. If I dial Feature 986 and then 3 #, I can get to announcement. Shouldn't I be able to dial that extension and get to the same place since I assigned the line to the CCR/Greeting and the line is assigned to the extension.

not sure what you are trying to do here , but by definition an information mailbox has no extension assigned to it.That's why "not in service" is displayed. An external call will transfer to mailbox if answered by auto attendant but an internal call will produce"not in service". Internal users can listen to message by pressing feature 986 and the mailbox number.
There should be no "beep"on an information maibox.

The purpoose of this info box, is that we get a lot of calls from potential candidates for employment. Our HMR department is flooded with these calls that are transferred from the receptionist. I built a CCR branch (info) and assisned an extension to it. This number will not be advertised externally. What would be the best way for me to have the receptionist transfer to an info line, by hitting an internal autodial button to an extensoin, instead of having to dial F986 and the CCR tree number?

Do not use an info node for this, but rather an informtion mailbox. In your CCR tree choose Leave Msg option and point to mailbox nnn where nnn is your info mailbox.Reception can then transfer caller using F986 directly to mailbox. This method also makes it easier to make changes to mailbox message...not necessary to disable ccr tree every time.
One other suggestion...at the end of your information message say "to repeat this information press 11"....then leave a slight pause.

One more question on this topic. We have an extension (with a phone) that we are setting up an auto attendant menu for externall calls. Is it possible to set up this extension, that internal calls will ring to the phone and external calls will go to menu?
I believe we have similar setup with our voicemail extension (if you dial number internally, it goes to VM, if you dial it externally using prefix, it goes to a menu)

Byrontel, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it F980 & then the mailbox number for an internal user (extension) to listen to an information mailbox?

I should be more clear. I would like those calls made internally to be answered live by the station user, and all calls called externally to hear the menu first.

BWTC....yes you are correct F980 for internal callers ...I was thinking of the live attendant transferring to mailbox...my bad.
Gabilini....I'm still trying to get my head around what you want to do.
If you want external callers to hear a menu then you will have to set up a CCR menu point which gives them an option to press the extension number or transfer point when ready...and internal callers pressing the extension will always go to the extension (or mailbox).I'm assuming this is a different mailbox than the information one?
