First off...I am NOT a technical user of Nortel products!! If I have detailed directions...I CAN re-set the time and program feature keys.

I am the Office Operations Coordinator at a non-profit agency and we have noticed that our Executive Director's M7310 phone shows caller ID on it. None of the others in the office do this. The Exec and myself have discussed that it would be helpful for each work station (or at least those who answer the phone the most) to have the caller ID show up. Is this something we can program directly through the each phone....or do we need to get our phone tech person in to do this? Phone tech charges us...and needless to say...being a non-profit...we try to avoid this whenver possible. If we can do this through the phone, does anyone have VERY detailed directions how to do it??

THANKS!!!!

It depends on the vintage of your Norstar system. Older systems (308, 616, 824, MICS R6 or lower) could only auto display at one extension per line. All CICS can display CLID at all extensions, as can MICS R6.1 and higher. First hurdle is to determine which Norstar system and release of software you have as you may need hardware and/or software upgrades to accomplish your request.

Many of the techs we sell to have trouble programming caller ID. A qualified tech should be able to program this in 15-20 minutes.

Knowing nothing of the system your running, I was wondering if maybe you could have one of the other extensions press Feature 811 when a call comes in and see if that doesn't give you caller id. My thinking being you may have an 8X24 with an M8 module or 6X16 with a C6 module in which case only one phone will show caller id and all others will need to press Feature 811 to get caller id to show.
Thanks,
John

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than to have a frontal lobotomy

THANKS GUYS!!!!

Will give the Feature 811 a try and see what happens. I have tried to figure out what hardware and software we have in the back in an attempt to get prices on voicemail options for the system. That did not work well....so if Freature 811 does not work...will give our tech guy a call and see what he says.

To figure out the version of the software that you are running, go into **CONFIG -> Maintenance -> System Version.

The following FAQ will help you to identify your software version:

Also, to check your voicemail release, do F983 with the password, then press 9

K.....would love to be able to try this...but getting to the Config is beyond me without directions. Only things I know how to program are those listed in the standard users manual...which is not a whole LOT.
