I have an IP 500V2 R8.1.69 Embedded with all 1416 sets 7 analog pots lines

The customer wants all 7 lines shown on the phone

They only want 1 phone to ring but they want all phones to show inbound caller id…is there any way to do that? Adding them into the hunt group and un-checking them does not work…

This sounds like a case for line appearance keys however you do not have enough buttons on the handsets ^ line appe5rance keys are generally considered to be an abomination.

Why Exactly does the customer want this?
is it something they have had previously or has a manager had "a good idea"

unless the users are expected to be answering the calls why would they need to show caller ID, if the phone does not ring what makes them think the user will take notice anyway?
is it so certain users will answer prime customers when they recognize the CLI, if so have you considered CLI routing or migrating to ISDN/SIP an providing dedicated numbers for these customers.

I think you need to try to educate you customer on efficient phone usage

Yes I agree 100% on the education part...some people refuse to learn!. We used Call appearance / Call Park first but they want to Caller ID screen calls like they could on the Partner system. Users do not want the lines to ring however. We are using 1416 sets and we have added line appearances (removed the Parks)with no issue. The issue is if the call does not Ring the extension no caller ID is shown.

They do not want CLI routing they simply want to look at the phone and decide if they want to be bothered with it is what it comes down to.

I don't see a work around but just checking if anyone else does. I know moving them to Basic / Partner mode will do it but that is a last resort for us.

What sort of business does not want to answer the phone to its callers (apart form one that is going out of business)?

With attitudes to business like that I doubt you customer will ever be satisfied I hope they are prompt payers for your sake.

Avaya Lease so all set there!

They are Engineers..can't be bothered I guess! Answering the phones is beneath some of them at this location.

We have a solution for that in the UK , it has the code name P45 :-)

Just tell them you cant do it, you won't be lying and it stops the madness before it starts :-)

You would think that wouldn't you....we get the put my old system back in then..lol

Then do it, it either has the feature or it doesn't, in this case it doesn't and it isn't going to change however hard they stamp their feet and no matter how far into the corner they throw their teddy :-)

If the phone doesn't ring, how would they know to look at their phone to see the caller ID? I just turn the ringer volume down low and glance at the caller ID when the phone rings to see if I want to pick up the hunt group call.

these are 1416 sets, why not just turn off the audible ringer in the menu options and just make the message waiting indicator light flash on incoming calls.

They want the sets to ring on intercom
