I have a system on version 9 and I am using embedded voicemail.

I am trying to emulate parking on nortel system, with 30 years of using same phone system will be hard for our users to change. I set up shortcodes at follows
Create Shortcode > *101>Call Park>*101 under Telephone Number
Create Shortcode > #101>Unpark Call>*101 under Telephone Number
I then set a button to dial *101 as park button but of course it doesn't work. It just dials the number while on the line. Obviously I think I don't know how to program button to use the shortcode?

Also I would like to have a button to transfer a live call to someone's voicemail. I created shortcode for transfer to voice as follows
Create Shortcode > #N>Voice COllect >"#"N under Telephone Number

but again when I set the shortcode for the button it doesn't work.

Can you confirm, one are my shorcodes right for each and second, how do I program these buttons to use the shortcode? I have search everywhere and can't find setting a button to shortcode

You can just create a park button for the phones from the button menu in Manager and assign a park zone to the button. go to the user then to button programming right click on an open button and select emulation and then call park then assign the zone you want it to have. This will allow the user to park the call and then unpark from the same button. As far as direct to VM I use a short code of #2XX if the exts are in the 200 range with voicemail collect as the feature and a dial action of #2N that way any user can transfer direct to VM by hitting transfer # and the extension number. to remove the ""s change the feature to voicemail node the back again and it will remove them.

You can program a call park button under the user>Button programming tab.

When you are on a call push the desired park button to put the call on park. push it back from any other phone to take and connect to the call.

To transfer to voicemail, when you are on a call, push the transfer button then dial # + Ext number then complete or hangup.

So I got the parking working, thanks for that and was able to transfer to voicemail. Is there anyway to program a button to push where they can push it and the push extension on BLM? My receptionist will be so confused if she has to do the # thing. I know people have to learn new things but...

Also I programmed a button for "Transfer" but when you push it it says xfer and then does nothing. How do I get it to work like the built in transfer button.

If you just press the voicemail button it will ask for the extension number you want to transfer to voicemail

Answer call — press voicemail button— enter the extension number
The call goes straight to the mailbox.

Using this method you DON’Tneed to press the Transfer button.

Works on all phones except 1401 basic phones

It’s not new
It’s always been there

Just remember DON’T press transfer👌

I think I got everything resolved. Still don't know why I can't program a BLM button to do call transfers and voicemail transfers but using the built in buttons work. Thanks for help

Make sure your BLM buttons are USER buttons. Answer call, press envelope button, press User button on Sidecar, call goes directly to voicemail

Sorry but that is a recipe for disaster. Phone systems do not do a good job of trying to emulate a different phone system. They all handle things very differently and going in telling your customer you will make it "close" is just a bad idea. Heck Avaya couldn't even make Basic mode a good emulation of Partner and they are both Avaya products.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
