call forwarding off site 1

I am trying to give a user the ability to forward calls to a cell phone when he needs to. I didn't want to put it in cov path because he only needs it some of the time, so I was thinking I could use call forwarding.

I changed his COS to one which didn't restrict call forward off net, but it still won't work.

After I dial the forwarding fac, *4, I hit 9 for an outside line and at that point I get that funky busy signal. Any Ideas?

Also, what is that funky fast busy signal called?

Without knowing the details about your configuration, I would try giving them consol permissions and see if you still waived off. We can start from here adn making sure it isn't a permissions issue even though you gave forward calls off net.

I agree with Milletary. It's probably a problem in the COS.

I'm not in front of ASA, but isn't there something on the COR form as well?

What you can do is create 2 paths , and let the user decide
on which route it is going to take today.
Thereby you limit the choice and they can't forward it to whereever, like with forwarding.
On the station form enter two paths, for example one going to VM, the other forwarding to coverage path that has a 'coverage-remote' entry.
Then enter an FEA for "Change Coverage Access Code:"(example *49)
To make life easier on the user programm 2 buttons :
13: autodial Number: ~s*4910001
14: autodial Number: ~s*4910002
where ~s suppresses the display, *49 is the FEA, 1000 the extension, and 1 / 2 the path number.

We are using G3V3, sorry I always forget to add that info.

I like telcoguys answer, but as I looked through forms I didn't see places for the entries, could be a version thing.

Where on the station form can I add a second path? I also didn't see a fea for "change coverage access code", or a COR entry for "Can Change Coverage."

I'm guessing if I don't see spots for entries then this version doesn't support it, but I'm not sure.

To have two COV P you need to have " Extended Cvg/Fwd Admin? y " turned on its a RTU. Look under Display SYS CUS for this. Wisdom is Knowledge

You could also cheat do a work around.
Set up a station with a new covarge path.
Only thing in that coverage path is R1
Do a change coverage remote command, in position
01 enter the number (if you have to dial 9 put that in too)
if numer is 212-555-1212 form looks like this

save form. Allow caller to forward his phone to new dummy extension

If he is at V3 I think he is going to be limited to getting the cor and cos set to be able to fwd these calls and is going to have to make sure forward off net is Y.

The multiple coverage paths and remote coverage as described, I don't believe show up till few versions later.

We do this frequently. We don't allow indescriminate offsite forwarding because of toll fraud concerns, so this is our process:
1. Identify a non-DID extension to be used; this will take a caller to the offsite number.
2. Enter DISPlay AAR Analysis 1. You could use a 2 or 3. In any case, note the last 3 digit number used. As an example, let's assume 106 was the last number used.
3. Enter CHAnge AAR A 107. Complete the fields as the other lines have been done, with the exception of the Route Pattern column; use the same number as the AAR analysis line you're using, in this case, 107.
4. Enter CHAnge ROUte pattern 107. Enter 1 as the group number and FRL number and enter 7 under "No Del Digits". Under "Inserted Digits", enter the offsite telephone number. Don't include "9" to get outside dial tone, but do include the leading "1" if it's long distance and don't forget the area code.
5. Lastly, enter CHAnge UDP extn, using the extension you've identified in step 1. Type AAR, press TAB once and then enter the 3 digit number you've used; in this example, 107.
We keep track of the offsite forwarding we've set up and arbitrarily use a one year sunset to revalidate the need.

The COS has to be have "Trk-to-Trk Transfer Override" set to y as well as "Restrict Call Fwd-Off Net" set to n.
