I'm sure I've seen this before but can't remember... we have an extension number (x port) that forwards calls onto a mobile which we change weekly depending who is on call.

Is there a simple way to forward the calling party number instead of the DDI number of the extension number that is dialled?

I don't know about UK network providers but most ISDN service providers in the US will not allow sending the network anything but a number that the calling customer "owns" (like a main listed number, a toll free number or a DID). It is intentionally done to stop telemarketing people from spoofing numbers.

That has created some interesting issues for EC500 users.

By default, that is true. It depends on your carrier, but you need to approach them and ask for TYPE 3 CLI release. This is perfectly permissable under OFCOM regulations, but will require a contratual agreement (to say that you won't misuse the facilty basically) This will allow you (with appropriate switch programming) to forward calls with the incoming CLI preserved. BT do now offer this, but hpw you go about ordering I don't know.

Most likely, they carrier will require you to send the CLI in a slightly different format (E164) than you are used too (in essence the full number without the leading 0) so you may need to alter your public-unknown tables for your normal outgoing CLI. You may also need to alter the tandem-call table, which applies to forwarded calls and alter something in the trunk group wto enable the the tandem-call table (I can't quite recall off the top of my head but will check later)

The key to all of this is your carrier needs to enable the feature and you have to do the switch programming once. After that the operation is just as you have been doing

BTW which part of God's own county do you come from?

Guys - thanks for the information. I don't think that it's something I will persue with the carrier as it's only for 1 user.

Matt - I'm from Yorkshire (Barnsley to be precise) but work up and down the UK/Ireland as we have several offices.

Where are you?

Cheers

Oh I'd guessed the Yorkshire part from your username. I am adopted Yorkshire, having lived in Bradford for 20 years
