Hi all

This isn't desperately important, or even a problem, but more a topic of interest for me.

I was looking around Access 2000 and noticed I can have Calendar Controls in my forms. They look interesting but I've no idea what you do with them or how they can be used. Can anyone offer any pointers for information. Not much in Access help about them.

Thanks in anticipation.

Sometimes used simply, for selecting a date. The control itself, has a value, of the date selected.

Dim dDate as Date
dDate = Calendar0.Value

I agree, it's a fancy control (which takes up a lot of space), that doesn't really do much, besides facilitate the selection of a single date. On the other hand, you can scroll through the Month & year comboBoxes, to see future dates, to know when Sunday falls in Oct 2005. Weekending periods, etc... it allows you to pick a specific date, very quickly, especially, if you don't know the specific day, but know That it's the last week of Mar/2004.

The calendar control is permanent on the form, whereas the "DatePicker" control, pops up for a selection, then closes & only allows advancing by month, not both year & Month.

That's my short experience with it.

Hope this offers some insight!

Hi dboulos

That's great - just what I needed. Many thanks for that.
So far I've only used it, as you suggested, as a quick means of looking up a date but now I'll be able to use it as a date selector. Although it's always on the form - I've simply switched it's visiblity on and off as required with a command button.

Thanks once again. Oh, bye the way, I should apologise to everyone for posting this question in the wrong forum. Sorry about that. Forgot where I was.

You're Welcome!
Nice touch, toggling the visibility.
thx for the star!
