Calculated member functions

Where would I find examples of the use of functions e.g. Aggregate in calculated members?

I want to produce a worksheet that can show for a given date, month to date and/or year to date totals.

Am I on the right path using a calculated member with the aggregate function?

I think you have to add each [year][month][day] members one by one using calculated members for Year to date, or Month to date.
