Is there a more modern application out that I can use to do a dump of all directories, their user, group associations, and the permissions?

Use scopy. although it's not modern it's a great utility for dumping entire directorys with all permissions intact. I usually do this before I go home at night.

Just write a small batch file and all you have to do is click the mouse button!
