Cable Router Advice needed 2

We have 2 office networks connected via Cisco 827 DSL routers. We are using IPSEC and 3DES. The networks are connecting privately through the VPN. We are going to re-locate one of the offices to an area that does not have DSL available, but does have Cable Access. My Question… What is needed/recommended at the new location that will allow us to re-connect the office networks and still use the Cisco 827 DSL at the other location? We would like to continue the same type of connectivity via a VPN solution.

Cisco 827 is a DSL modem and router combo built-in one small unit. For your new office with cable, you need to buy a cable modem and a router to perform the same function that your 827 is doing. I don't know whether Cisco carry a cable modem and router combo. But the worse case would be a Toshiba or RCA or Linksys cable modem with a Cisco or Linksys or Netgaer type router.

I believe the Cisco 806 is a cable modem router. I'm not sure if it actually has a cable modem built in, but it is a home/soho router. Degg

If your looking for an all inclusive solution, get a Cisco uBR905. The uBR905 is a router/cable modem all integrated together. If you have cable modem or are going to use one supplied by the service provider, you could use a Cisco 806 cable router. The 806 us a cable router only. You will need to get get the right IOS with the unit to allow you to use 3DES encryption.
