I am having the same exact problem Stop: C0000218 in Windows 2000pro like the user "matagouri" (very beginning of the topic on thread616-86626
I have p4 with VC19 motherboard, 200G Western Digital HD, 1G RAM. I have this for about two months now. My pc worked so fine until yesterday. I did shutdown my PC as normally as before. However, I got this problem when I tried to turn it on yesterday.
The Windows 2000 pro CD I have is not able to create the boot disk too. I do not have Raid Card. I honestly don't know whether I have "Raid Bios" or not, and no idea what is Raid Bios. I have many other files installed on this C drive. I really could not loose them.
It is something could be fixed with the service pack? I don't know what version of SP I have. I also tried to install the SP4 from DOS mode today but the installation was not successful in DOS mode.
For easy access to the same issue, I am including the message below. Again, I have the same exact issue. Please help me.
***issue starts***
I got the blue screen......
and a message "stop c0000218" and something like "registry cannot load hive file or its log or alternate it is corrupt absent or not writable"
immediately after the blue screen, the computer restarts itself and goes through the cycle again.....
I have a OEM version of win 2k pro from friend and could not make any recovery/emergency disks.
I cannot get into Safe mode or command line. When I tried to boot Dos 6.0 off a floppy it started but I couldn't access C drive, which is NTFS.
***issue ends***
In my situation, I could not return the PC back to the store because of over 30 days.
I have two partitions. I could access the D drive in DOS mode with win98 bootdisk. The C drive (which can not be accessed and has w2000 issue) is NTFS.
Please give me more options and ideas for not to loose any of my file if my issue is not fixable.
What do you think:
* If I install Win98 on D drive and install the W2K over it.
* I will use NTFS for that new W2K for D drive.
If I do above steps, will I be able to see the old C (NTFS) drive and backup all the file?
Thank you all for reading this long message.
I seriously need a real effective help.
Please help me out.
Thank you.
