When I dial int the intrnet the page doesn't open saying unable to. I try going to another page from favorites and in the very top of the window (the blue area) this dnserror.htm shows up with shdoclc.dll. it doesn't say it's missing or corrupt...it's just there. I dnloaded the dll file to replace, but it said it couldn't create it. Anyway, I can't view pages on the net after i dial in.

Check your DNS settings for your dial-up connection. Also, verify that you do not have a proxy setting in your browser options.

If you know the ip address of a site enter it in the address field and see if you can connect....if so, the issue is name resolution and you have a problem with your DNS server settings or the server itself.

This can also occur on laptops that use a combo pcmcia card with modem/lan. The packets could be attempting to go out the lan portion of the adapter instead of the modem. If this is your case a workaround is to run WINIPCFG and release the IP address from the Lan adapter.

dxd
