C++ errror in SMSMON32.exe

After the upgrade to SMS2003 on some of the legacy client I am getting a strange error message.
Few times a day the message pops-up saying:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Program: c:\.....\smsmon32.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. ....

Clients: NT4 SP6

Any advice would be appreciated.
