How can I transfer programs from C to other partitions without confusing my registry or creating redundant entries in the registry.

Just noticed title of your post! Can you increase C: partition (have you a copy of Partition Magic) size?

Presume you've cleaned up, moved other stuff to other partitions (eg pagefile, Temporary Internet files). Do you have hibernation enabled? If so and you don't use it, disable it - saves 100+MB if I remember rightly.

Personally I don't use system restore either - but wouldn't advise someone else to turn that off (could include this in clean up - keep less restore points).

I don't have a version of Partition Magic that works (my latest version is 3.04) My operating system is XP Home Ed.

I don't know about hibernation as to whether it is installed or not. How would one find out?

The partition size of the C drive is 5.0 Gbyte. So are the partitions D, E, F, and G; H partition has the rest of a 30 Gbyte drive. So as you can see, I have many programs / files on the C drive. And I want to move some of them to other partitions which have vacancies.

I would like to know some command that transfers the selected program in C and transfers it to E; and when I click on the icon identifying the program on my desktop, the program works in the same way as it did when located on the C drive.

If you don't want to find a way to increase the size of the C partition, then you're safest bet is to uninstall/reinstall the program(s) you want to move.

I suggest investing the $40 for the latest release of PartitionMagic or similar app to make the job much easier. ~cdogg

There isn't any built in command to do what you want.

You'll need something like Partition Magic 8, to increase your C.

Is there some reason for your partitioning scheme? With modern systems there really is very little reason to have so many partitions, IMHO. =============
