I would install it in a Virtual PC (or VMWare) if you can, or if not, make a separate installation of Windows to install it into, since it is Beta and they say with their beta software stuff that it "might cause problems" or you might have to reformat/reinstall to get rid of it. I just picked up the VS2005 B1 myself yesterday at a conference, it's going into a virtual machine until I see how stable it is.
Well if you install, you might want to make a "system restore" point. (Start->Help and Support, click "Undo changes to your computer with System Restore " and make a restore point.)
If you would like to just give it a try, you can download a trial of Virtual PC
and install windows in this then install vs2005 on top of that. A lot of work, but it could save you from having to 1)use system restore to recover 2)have to reformat/reinstall
Another strong vote for not installing beta software on a machine you need/count on. I was burned by the original VS.NET beta on this one, and will never do it again.
I use VB 6 and Visual C 6 together with the 2005 Betas without problems, without Virtual PC or VMWare.
