All,

I've set-up a SIP station and followed all the procedures that I've seen online for dial-plan, routing policies, CM, private-numbering, public numbering etc. We're using One-X Communicator and station type is 9630SIP and no station/feature buttons are there whenever I log station into One-X Communicator...I've tried different phone types, 9608SIP, 4620SIP, 9608CCSIP. Any help would be appreciated on getting button assignments to show up in One-X Communicator. Extension shows registered and also shows AST Device Checked in SM.

AST means you got PPM data from SM. That includes a lot of things, including your buttons and your sip servers.

What does a traceSM from the SM cli show when you register (with ppm enabled in the trace?).

If I had to hazard a guess, look at the trunk you're coming in on for application sequencing vs the one CM sends back to SM on. Make sure it's numbering format is private and that your extension is in the private unknown numbering table.

What effect does changing from public to private numbering format do to the trunk group if it's in use. Will it drop calls or cause Routing issues.

Won't drop calls. Will change routing. You need a good understanding of ARS/AAR/calltypes and numbering to guess if it'll change routing.

But... trunks that are public will always use public numbering. Trunks that are private will always use private unless the calltype dictates public numbering. That makes private more flexible.

CM to SM should always be private. You can still get to a SBC thru it as public numbering. SM/CM/phone features generally expect private numbering to be used. Unless the trunk from CM has the far end as the PSTN, you'd probably want to be private.
