I have look through the threads on here and also gone through the installation and Administration manual for theses phone and I am still missing some simple I am sure.

I have SE 9/1/6 with 2 IP500v2
200 E129s on one of the IP500s.
I need to change the default message button on the phones from *17 to 6900. I edited the e129cfg.txt to this

Customer provided DHCP with the option 66 configured for the http to be ip address of the IP500 with e129 on it.

Uploaded to the primary file directory on the SD card of the IP500.
Rebooted phone and watched in Monitor but do not see it grabbing the files. I am not trying to upgrade phones only change the message button.

I am able to go into web interface of each phone and change it there but, am hoping to do all of the at same time.

Not sure what I am missing

Any help is appreciated..

There was another thread about editing the E129 .txt file. I believe you need the cfg.xml file, the e129cfg.txt needs the MAC address in it.

I am trying to find that file but, do not see it on the DS card. I saw another thread said to change e129cfg.txt to xml.. Not sure if that is correct or not

Just watch monitor with HTTP filters enabled what files the phone requests.

Open a web browser and go to office ip address>/cfg.xml
Copy the contents of the autogenerated xml file into wordpad, edit as nedded and save it as cfg.xml
Then copy the cfg.xml file onto the SD card in the promary folder.

It can't be too hard to figure that out, even I managed to find that without any documentation.

I figured out what I was missing.

I had already done what Intrigrant suggested
Open a web browser and go to office ip address>/cfg.xml. However, it did not work when I tried to upgrade phone after modifying the setting for vm button .
Since I am not a XML expert, I did not notice a couple of the lines had - in front of them. I removed them, then upload file again and the VM button now uses 6900 instead of *17.

Thanks for the help
