I was working on a fresh install of SQL7 SP4 on an NT4 SP6a server.
Going through the MBSA on some recommended fixes I removed the
BUILTIN\Administrator account from the SYSADMIN ROLE.

I guess the morning coffee had not kicked in yet.

The only thing that is in there is the "SA" account.

Well I'm a bit stuck now. I am hoping I do not have to reinstall SQL7.

I am unable to administer what I need to now on the SQL Server.

Can I get the BUILTIN\Administrator account back into the SYSADMIN ROLE,
or is there another route to take here?

Thanks!

If so I do not know how. Really, all I really do with SQL server is very basic maintenance. The programmers in the cubicles are the guys who put the data in via their programs. I know I need to learn more about it one day but right now if I dont figure it outt AHHHHHHHH - I am going to reinstall!

How can I login or do administrative duty via the SA account? I certainly can not login to windows using SA and the PW I set for it!

:)

In Enterprise manager choose Edit SQL Server Registration Properties. Choose SQL Authentication, type in SA for the login name and enter the SA password.

In Query Analyzer, open a new connection, choose SQL Authentication and type in the login and password. Terry L. Broadbent - DBA
