Bug Workaround for Gridline Separating Group With Multi Show Values

I have been struggling with something, that i gave up on and now have had success, so I thought I would post it.I have a CRXI report with a chart that is "on change of" one value and has four "show values". It is colored by series.
In this example, I wanted to look at performance per year (show values are 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 totals) per department (group). I could not seem to get a gridline between the groups. If i said major gridline i got one in the middle of the group (between 2006 and 2007). If i said minor gridline I got nothing. Kept trying and i had to go through a few hoops to get it to work.
I right clicked on the group axis and said "Group (X)Axis Options"
Made Sure "skip group labels" unselected
Clicked on gridlines tab and checked "Show Minor Gridlines"
Selected "Grids and Ticks" under Grid Style
Clicked ok
Still nothing shown yet
Right clicked and cliked Chart Options
This is the peculiar part: I checked Major Gridlines and then Minor Gridlines and then unchecked Major Gridlines under Group Axis
Sometimes I had to select Major Gridlines say okay, then go back in and select Minor Gridlines before unselecting Major Gridlines.
If you select Minor Gridlines first, nothing happens.
Weird anyways, maybe it is just my specific install but I though if it helps one it may help others.
