I changed a computer from Win98 to Win2000. I loaded Crystal Reports 7.0 with the Seagate Btrieve add on.

This worked fine in Win98. Now I get Btrieve Error - Record Manager inactive.

Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Are you trying to read Macola by any chance? Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

No . . . it is a DDF for a DOS based database.

Betty,

Does the Dos application itself work on this workstation? Also, please let me know what version of Btrieve you are on, I suspect it is 6.15x, but I really need to know what is after the 6.15. It is most likely either 6.15.1208, 6.15.435, 6.15.445 or 6.15.451

On old Macola installations, the pervasive aka btrieve components had to be placed in the Crystal directory on the workstation for crystal to work. This held true for any other aplication that tried to use btrieve as well.

I can most likely provide these to you if you do not have them, but I need to know what version of btrieve you are using. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

The btrieve version used for the application is 6.15.925. Not sure what Macola is. This program is a DOS based real estate closing package.

The database is on the C: drive of the Win2000 Professional but I may need to access the database on the network Win2000 server, too.

On Win98, the system can read the DDF's with only the Crystal Reports 7 fix for Btrieve. I didn't need the Pervasive drivers.

However, on the Win2000 Professional set up . . . it is bombing. Was wondering if there is a permissions issue or something special needed for Win2000 Professional.
