BSOD, Windows Logo Testing error even when not installing anything!

I have had a Dell Inspiron 9400 (WinXP) for my small business for over a year. I haven't had any major problems until now. I've been getting the odd random blue screen of death for no apparent reason (although one time I got it when I pulled my cordless mouse USB thing out of the port). Also, every time I put a USB flash drive into a USB port, I get the error that "the software you are installing for this hardware has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows XP." (Continue or STOP). I've used the Flash drive a hundred times before. It's like it's forgetting it's already installed.

So I thought I'd run the drivers/diagnostics CD from Dell to re-install some drivers. When doing so, I get the same error that the software doesn't pass Windows Logo Testing! Then I went to the Dell website to download drivers (especially any urgent ones), and each one during install creates the same error that the software hasn't passed Windows Logo Testing!

I just restarted and got the same Windows Logo error for a 'High Precision Event Timer' and 'Microsoft Windows Management Interface for ACPI'. I wasn't even trying to install anything! Immediately after the second message, I got BSOD with 'PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA' with a stop message of 0x00000050 (if that helps).

Can anyone help me out here? Am I missing some drivers or is something corrupt?

Your thoughts are appreciated!

go to controlpanel/system, hardware tab. drivers/signed drivers choose ignore, xp wont bother u anymore with questions about unsigned drivers.

ur stop error might be related 2 the memory modules, replace the new ones with the old and reboot.

i also have the problem that xp is searching for drivers when a (known, because used befor) usb stick is inserted, it happend to me after i updated xp, donno what update is causing this but with the driver signing on ignore it should be ok.

Okay, I am now ignoring those prompts. Thanks!

What do you mean about replacing the 2 memory modules with the old and reboot? Is this something I can do?

See (first):

0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).

Have a look at Suggestions (2), (3), and (4), in this article.

When installing an update you receive the following message: "Software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing"

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
