BSOD Problem

I have started up my computer this morning and have received the familiar BSOD problem greeting me with Stop Error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0xA)

Someone must have installed something on my computer whilst I have been away to have caused this but I cannot get around it at all even restarting to try and start in Safe mode won't work. Can someone help with really simple laymen's terms as to how I can repair this problem.

The problem file is ntoskrnl.exe which from what I can gather with my internet searches is an os file, the system is running Win2k and MS recommend to "disable, remove, or roll back the driver to correct the problem"

As I have no idea what has been tampered with, can anyone tell me whether or not I can remove this file or repair without losing any data etc.

I don't actually have the original copy of Win2k to hand either to attempt repair or re-install. Any ideas?

since you have had this problem, have you actually succeeded in logging on?
if not, use last known good config on booting, when you hit F8!

if its not broken, fix it anyway - with luck you might break it and have an excuse
