Hi all,
I'm not sure this is deffinately related to this forum, so please forgive me if it's not, but here goes.

I have a client who is experiencing the following problems on his WinXP Pro machine over his companies LAN.

When he open up either Word or Excel and then goes to open a file in a sub-folder on the W2K Sever (unfortunately he has a plethera of sub-folders and hops about from one to another like nobody's business) the system will hang for about 40 seconds before displaying whats in the folder, even if there are only one or two files in it.

This is not happening all of the time, and not always on the same folders, but is now driving him mad (he is the FD of the company and wants it sorting now!).

Anyone who could suggest where to start looking or what I need to do to resolve this would be very muchly appreciated.

FYI
His network card is set to 100mbs Full Mode, and I have disabled WINS, LMHOST lookup and NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

These options have been changed from:- Auto Mode, WINS enabled pointing to the WINS server, Enable LMHOSTS Lookup and Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

He has also been given a static IP address to se if it was anything to do with DHCP causing the problem, but none of the changes I've made have made any difference.

Any/All help very much appreciated

Thanks in Advance
Mark

Try mapping a drive to his main folders, then put a hosts file on his machine pointing to the server. Also, turn off browsing on his machine as this can cause problems. Hope this helps. Just a couple of ideas off the top of my head. Good luck. (Don't think this is a wins issue.)
