Hi,
I have 7 PC’s with win-2000 professional that are connected to a switch.
The switch is connected the backbone main switch (that is doing routing between Vlans).
Six of the PC’s are configured as a workgroup and the seventh is configured to a domain.
When browsing in my network places you can see only PC’s in the workgroup but not the domain.
There is one PC from the six that is the master browsers for this workgroup.
I have disconnected it from the net and change in the registry of the PC that is connected to the domain forcing it to participate in the master browser elections.
IT doesn’t work. If this PC was the master browser I could see the workgroup and the group of the domain.
Somehow after waiting more than 20 minutes no elections were done, and I cannot see now any PC (if I write \\PCNAME it works due to the WINS).
Note: these six PC’s are configured with TCP/IP and Netbui. The seventh PC is TCP/IP only. It is configured this way due to a special test environment.
Thanks.
