Ok, well it isn't the same broadcast we all know and love. I have someone who would like to record a message, and have that message sent to each of their 16 sites across the US.

These sites are not connected via IP Lines or SCN, they are all standalone. I have done some testing with the Post Dial Action, but that seems to only like internal extensions. I've tried creating a shortcode that forwards the message out to an external number, and I've tried sending it to a user who is unconditionally forwarded to the external number. Both instances the call is plain dropped.

Even if this situation did work, it would only happen to 1 site, unless I could use the "Next" action to another Post Dial Action doing the same thing to another external number essentially.

Understand? Maybe I'm thinking too much into it.

creat a phantom user for each site & use VM paging to call each site with the msg
(P<number> in source numbers)

Universal Plan B: when all else fails CHEAT

Set up hunt group mailbox with broadcast enabled.

Have it broadcast the message to virtual users in the hunt group.

Set up vm pro callback on the virtual users to ring the sites and tell them they have a message etc.

Interesting, let me try this out, and I'll let you guys know what happens.

Ok, unless I'm thinking about this the wrong way, but wouldn't this just call the remote sites and say "This is an IP Office Outbound Alert". We we're looking for is a way to leave a message on everyone's phone, lighting the lamp and everything. I know you could call the remote site, have that call routed to a remote Hunt Group with Broadcast turned on for everyone, but how would the Callback actually leave the remote hunt group a message if there is no one to physically answer the call..

What about if you got the vmail to output to email, print the email off.

Carrier pidgeons. One could fly to each site with it strapped to its leg.

But seriously how would you expect a vm message left on a vm server to get into a vm server on another site that isnt connected in anyway at all.

I think that is asking a little bit much.

Thank you for the humor, we all can use it sometimes.

I agree with you, it is asking a bit much. I was in support for this system for years, and this is the kind of thing I would tell people to forget about.

These days, I am working for a company that wanted their own Telecom Admin for their IPO infrastructure, and the CEO wants this to happen.

Now, I'm used to coming up with concoction that shouldn't work, but this one is mind boggling. I think I am "almost" there. Just trying to wrap my pea brain around the idea.

How about email reading?

Vm to email using virtual users.

Emailed to everybody, then use the email reading feature of vm pro to read that email through the mailbox?

Can anybody else think of a way to do this?

Vpim?
it would require a network connection & a compatible VM @ each end but it may be useable

Here is what I have so far.

I have a user 2075. Callback is turned on.

I have a module in VMPro for Edit Play List Action. That action records the WAV file broadcastVM.wav.

I call 2075(also set to DND), and I just leave a quick generic message.

Under the user 2075, I have the source # set to call a Hunt Group I am part of, and instead of the action being Get Mail, it is a Menu that plays the broadcastVM.wav file.

That will end up calling my Hunt Group, which has broadcast on, and it will leave a message and then broadcast it to me as a member of that group.

BUT... the message is "This is an IP Office outbound alert". If only a digit could have been pressed, this would be close to working.

I think all I need to do now is send a tone to the line, so that when it goes to leave my remote Hunt Group a voicemail, "Outbound alert" message will stop and play the real message.

Aside from holding a phone up to it and making a tone sound, anyone know of an easier way?
