I have 3 Catalyst 4006 switches that are having problems since this weekend's worm affected our network. To isolate the servers that were causing the broadcast storms we disable the top talkers. After going to track down the servers by the ports we disabled, we found that there was nothing connected to the ports. What might cause these ports to broadcast with nothing connected to them?

Thanks in advance,

Maybe bad arp table? Try clear arp on the switch. Can't hurt. Then the good ol' reboot probably isn't a bad idea to flush out the memory and assorted tables.
