broadband problem

Have just taken delivery of adsl speedtouch 330 modem and waiting in hopes of its working soon. The software has been installed and have been in touch with support line several times but still no go. Connection can be made when my phone is taken off the hook but when i put it back in its cradle the internet connection is severed. Does anyone have an idea as to what is up as my isp help line has no idea.

This is just a random guess, but my modem came with filters to put on all the phone lines EXCEPT the modem, any chance you did that backwards and have a filter on the modem line?

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Unless the master socket in your house has been changed you will need filters for every socket that has a phone attached sounds like the phones havent got filters on them.

When ANY phone is off hook, or just one in particular?

Possible short with the telephone? Call your phone company.
