Bring info from main form to subform

My main form displays company information. When I click on the 'view employees' button, the employees information form pops up. When I want to add a new employee, the firm number from the main form should appear on the employees form without having to be typed in.

I've tried the example that was posted in some other threads but it doesn't work.

Hopefully someone can help me.

If the main form is still open when your employees form opens you can put on open of the employees form


me!firmId = forms!mainform!firmid

if it doesn't there are many and varied options to provide a solution

eg public variable
dlookup function
recordset find thru ADO or DAO
