My backups run with no errors, no complaints, but do so in under 60 seconds, and only pick up the dirctory tree, from what I can see in restore. I suspected permissions problems, but have granted the user account all rights possible, and still can not get any data to tape. It backs up about 400Mb of 96Gb. OS is 2K Advanced Server.

Brightstor V9 only backs up directory tree

Saw something similar where SMS2003 client was installed on the machine for ARCserve 2000, but was pretty sure it didn't affect v9.
If you have the SMS2003 Client, you might wanna try the workaround in this doc :
The symptoms are the same it would backup only the dir structure and system state.
