I'm running ARCserve Brightstor version 9 on Windows 2000 server.

Under c:\ProgramFiles\ComputerAssociates\ARCserve\DATABASE resides a file Astpsdat.

The last time this file was modified was 8/26/03. Is it safe to delete these files? My server is tight on space and one file is 907,776kb.

Hi,

These are the arcserve database files which hold all you backup records.

What you can do is reinitialize the database....this of course will restart the datase from scratch.

Search CA's support site on how to do this.

See What Databases Make up the VLDB Database? faq478-3983 for details on astpsdat. No it can not be deleted.

The options are:
1) Modify the Database Prune job to preserve data for fewer days.
2) Modify the backups to save summary data only in the database.
3) Initilizing the astpsdat database no need to do everything.

To reclaim space after the above use the utilities. See What are the VLDB utilities? faq478-4386 for details.
