BrightStor Arcserve 11.1 Merge Error

We are running Brighstor Arcserve 11.1 at our organization. When we are trying to merge information from a tape into the database, from a 2 month old tape, following are the errors we are getting:
(a) W3855 Unable to position media
(b) W3884 Unable to position media catalog file
(c) E3841 Unable to find session number

We have tried different slots, different tapes but still the same error.
Could somebody please help?

You can try forcing it to not use the catalog merge. If using regedit the steps will be a little different but this should be enough to let you try it if you want.

Open regidt32.exe
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine
Open it to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\Base\Task
Highlight Task and select Edit Add Key from the menu bar.
Key Name: Merge
Class: <leave blank>
Highlight Merge and select Edit Add Value
Value Name: DonotUseCatalogMerge
Data Type: REG_DWORD
click OK
Data: 1 *// 1 = Enabled, 0 = Disabled

I have the same problem but on a Novell box. How do I configure the server not use the catalog merge in a Novell 6.5 server ??
