I have just upgraded our NT4 Domain to Active Directory this weekend. Both of our AD DCs are Windows 2003 servers, and we have a couple of NT4 BDCs left in the domain. The domain and functional levels are currently Windows 2003 interim.

The upgrade went fine, but I am having issues figuring out how to backup the system state on our DCs with Brightstor 9.01. I go in and select one of the DCs in the list of machines, but I do not see a specific system state option to select. I do have brightstor 11 sitting here, but my understanding is that this should work with Brightstor 9.01

I backed up the machine successfully, and went into the sessions on tape thinking that I might see the system state in there to restore, but no such luck. Thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I found my own solution. Some digging in the documentation and the help files finally led me to find out that I NEED to use the Client Agent in order to back up the System State (and thus AD). Once I installed the agent on my DC and told ArcServe to use that, everything appears to be backed up properly.

hi,

i am having a problem with the agent on a 2003 server.
any time i try and back it up from another server, the agent stops and i get the following error in the logs: backup server tcp reconnection timeout.
would anyone have any idea as to what may be the problem. would it be 2003 server causing it?

thanks
joanne
