Hey,

I've something strange happening here. I'm pretty new to msl6030 + brightstor 11.1.
The situation is as follows:
The msl 6030 has 5X2 tapes for the daily backup (which runs fine for now, the tapes rremain in the tape robot).
Then we have like 14 tapes for the weekly backup (made on saturday). With this one it sometimes goes wrong. All the tapes for the weekly backup are put into a mediapool "WEEK". Settings of this group:# tapes in the group -- 3, retensiion time -- 31 days. Last weekend the backup went fine and it used "tape A". Every monday we eject the tape used for the weekly backup and replace it with an empty one (which is formatted and put in the pool). Now comes the problem. This weekend the weekly job was asking again for "tape A". I looked into the save set and found "tape A" there. In the logs I found the following lines:
C3703 24/09/2005 23:00:12 534 Unable to open media. (MEDIA=9/17/05 11:00 PM, EC=ERROR TAPE NOT FOUND)
E6500 24/09/2005 23:00:12 534 Client connect to tape failed.
Information 24/09/2005 23:00:10 534 1 media moved from Save Set to Scratch Set in ?? pool.

What am I doing wrong? We had the same problem 3 weeks ago. But we didn't found a resolution.
If u need more info about the config just ask me!

Tnx

I don't understand. Log reports it was looking for a tape labeled as "9/17/05 11:00 PM" and not "tape A". That being the case it does not matter if "tape A" was there or not, what matters is that tape "9/17/05 11:00 PM" was in the Scratch Set. Note that it has to be in the Scratch and not the Save set. Whatever is in the Save set is being saved and will not be used. The job looks in the Scratch set or for blank media to use.

I'm sorry. With "tape a" was for example. The actual tape he was looking for was "9/17/05 11:00 PM". This tape was in the save set. So why was he waiting for that tape? Instead of taking one of the others in the scratch set?

There is no way it should ask for a tape in the save set.
this could be a case of database corruption.

Check to see if that tape should still be in the save set or if it should have been moved to the scratch set.
