Bridged Appearances

I have two phones. One is a 5420 and one is a 5410. The 5410 has bridged appearances of the 5420 (all of them). The incoming call rings through a hunt-group where the only member is the 5420. If you answer the call on the 5420, then bridged on to the call on the 5410 (so now both phones are on the call and the outside line), then hang up the 5410 (the 5420 is still connected), the call disconnects.

Isn't there a three person limit (minimum) on meet-me conferences? Is that what's happening here? All of the sudden there is a three person conference call, then it's down to two and it thinks the conference is over? Or, am I way off base?

Thanks!

Bridged appearances are designed to make two phones ring at the same time. It's not meant for conference setup

Never mind. After going on-site and having them repeat the problem, it was nothing like they described.

But to correct JeSTeROCK, bridged appearance buttons can be used to join an existing call, thus forming a conference and that is part of their design intent. In fact in some areas joining a conference is called 'bridging' and a conference is called a 'bridge'. [check Netwon's]

I did test to see what happens when a bridged-appr picks up the call. It does create a conference group (100 in my case, I assume it would increment if there were other conferences in place but that's just a guess) and it sounds exactly like a meet-me conference with all beeping when someone joins or leaves the conference. It did not, however, disconnect the call after the 3rd party hung up. They were actually having a problem with the telephone itself, not the bridged appearances.

The two phones enter the same call as a conference bridged call "Conf 100". When either internal party hangs up, the Conf100 is terminated. We had experienced the same problem and Avaya said this is the way the "Conf" feature is designed.
