Have a phone that is the overflow of the attendant that rings her DID, she wants an additional extension on her phone which is different from her DID so when the attendant transfers a call to her she knows it's just a transfer from the attendant, this way she can answer the phone different. I have tried to configure it as a bridged appearance but when I push the bridged appearance button I get a wave off. I'm a newbie with IP office so obviously I'm doing something wrong.

Bridged appearances only work if there is an actual phone plugged in on the extension your bridging

Alright that makes sense, is there anyway to put like a phantom extension on a phone..?

I don't know if this is the best way to do it but heres what I've done. Make a new user using the Phantom extension number. Then put a call coverage appearance button on the another phone. If you have a Coverage appearance of an user that is not looged in then the call will ring immeditly.

Coverage button will ring without a phone plugged in. That should do it. Bridged appearance requires the phone to be connected so it won't work.

get the AA to transfer to a group containing the reception phone
the display will then show the callas intended for the group.

No need for any frigging of bridged/coverage appearance keys.
(if you want flashy lights on a 14XXor 16XX type phone you can ad a group key as well but it is unnecessary)
