Bridged appearance oddities

I'm having problems with bridged appearances working inconsistently. I do have some bridged appearances that are working correctly, but some that do not ring on the phone with the bridged appearance configured.

Is there anything to be concerned about with having a number on an E.129 and having the bridged appearances on 9620's or 9608's? The bridged appearances show up on the other phones. If I click the bridged appearance line an audible dial tone is presented, but nothing can actually be dialed.

How can I troubleshoot this?

E129 doesn't support appearance buttons, so you can't have a bridged appearance to a user on one.

[You can program appearance buttons for a user even if their phone doesn't support them because users can hotdesk onto a phone that does support them (in fact needs them).]

I'm trying to do the reverse... I wanted to have the line from the E.129 appear on a 9608.

Doesn't matter since bridged appearances require the target users phone to have call appearances.

May be better you say what you want to achieve - its may be done with a user button, line appearance or some other method.

I'm trying to have one line ring on multiple phones, with a fallback to voicemail. A hunt group would probably work better, but this was how it has been configured previously.

If the calls are going to the E129 in the first place, have a look at using the "Coverage Group" setting (User | Telephony | Supervisor Settings | Coverage Group).

But hunt group may be a lot easier so long as your also setup hunt group message waitig notification on the users.

After setting up a user button for each line, the button's will flash when there's an active call, but there isn't an audible ring.

Any idea's what I should look at next?

As you already said doing this with a huntgroup is a far better solution. Send calls to a huntgroup and give everyone access to the huntgroup's voicemail is the easiest and best solution. There are ways to get the call to end at a user's voicemail, if desired, but it is rather convoluted in embedded (easy with vm pro).

If you took over the programming of this system don't be afraid to make changes... leaving poor/improper programming because that was how it was is not doing the customer any favors.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
