I have a Windows 2003 domain controller with Exchange 2003. I am running Brightstor v. 11 with the Exchange option.... For some unknown reason, I cannot get the option to do a brick level backup.... I have an identical configuration on another server, and I do see the brick level backup...

Any suggestions as to what is wrong or different here? I can't see anything different between the two servers!

If you have installed the premium add-on for exchange, then enable the brick level by going to Client agent Admin in the Exchange server and select the Premium add-on from the drop down box in the top and select configuration and check mark show brick level.

If this is not the case, then the other possibility is that you are seeing the brick level but it is greyed out. If you do full system selections then brick level will be greyed out.

Or else - Verify that the HKLM\Software\CA\Brightstor ARCServe Backup\DSagent\Current Version\Agent\ dbaxchg2 - key is present in the hive. If it is there then the brick level also should show properly in the ARCserve backup window.

If it is a remote system and you are doing backup using the client agent - then delete and re-add the system under the client agents and check it out. There is a possibility that this system was discovered before the installation of the exchange agent and the discovery service has been stopped after that.

Please also confirm that you are able to see the database level fine but not the brick level
