I am currently attempting to perform a DR test on a standalone HP-UX 9000 system. I have installed the Veritas Master/Media server software and then performed a catalog backup. I am now attempting to restore that backup using the bprecover -r -tpath <drive name> -dhost <new host name>.
Everytime I attempt this restore I receive an I/O 84 (Media write error). I have checked the space and I need around 20-30 gig and have around 200 gig available. We have used the /dev/rmt/4mnb and the /dev/rmt/ct0xxxnb device paths and both returned the same error. I performed another catalog backup to a different tape and then tried to perform the restore again with the same result. I had thought that it could be a hardware issue since the syslog was showing a "SCSI: Unexpected disconnect error" except for the fact that we were able to use the tar command to copy a file to the tape and then restore the file without issue. The bprecover -l command also works fine to show what is on the tape. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I feel like just running the tar command on the whole tape to restore to the destination but I do not believe it will be nearly as clean of a restore if I decide to do so. Thanks!
